The Sachem Baseball School in West Newbury will be running the weeks of July 21-25 and July 28-Aug 1 at Action Cove. The camp is run by Pentucket head baseball coach Tom L’Italien. Both weeklong sessions will emphasize the proper fundamentals of the game, teamwork and the importance of sportsmanship and learning how to compete in a fun atmosphere for all players regardless of skill level. Amesbury Hockey Golf Tournament

The Amesbury/Whittier Hockey Program’s Annual Golf Classic will take place on Sunday, Aug. 10 at the Bradford Country Club. Registration is $125, and for more information, participants can contact Fred Motsis at 508-633-2528.

Wrestling

The Winnacunnet Warrior Wrestling Camp will take place in the Winnacunnet High School Wrestling Room from July 21-25. The camp is open to kids in grades K-12 and there will be two sessions each day. Session 1 will run from 8 to 10 a.m. for kids in grades K-6, while Session 2 will run from 10 a.m. to noon for kids in grades 7-12. The cost is $100 per wrestler prior to July 20 and $110 at the door. To register, visit the WHS Wrestling website or email elizabet.ross@comcast.net for a registration form to be emailed to you. The Seabrook Recreation Department will be hosting youth wrestling clinics throughout the summer. The programs will be coached by Winnacunnet High School coach Eric Larcomb and assistant coach Sean Kelley, and will run from 5:45 to 6:20 p.m. for kids in grades K-5 and 6:20 to 7 p.m. for kids in grades 6-12. Sessions will take place on July 28, 31, Aug. 4 and 7 at the Seabrook Rec Center on Route 1 in Gym 2. The cost is $18 per child with a current Seabrook Rec ID and $48 for non-residents ($30 for Seabrook Rec ID plus $18 wrestling fee). Participants can register at the Seabrook Rec Dept.

Salisbury Beach 5-Mile

The Salisbury Beach Lifeguards will once again hold their 36th Annual Beach Race Saturday July 26. The race will take place at the Salisbury Beach State Reservation at 6:15 p.m. It will start and end on the beach in front of the Salisbury Beach Lifeguards First Aid Station. Participants will compete in a 5-mile low tide run along the water’s edge – shoes are optional. In addition, there will be a 3/4-mile children’s Fun Run beginning at 6 p.m. Entry fees are $15 and include registration. The children’s Fun Run will cost $5. Proceeds help pay for training and equipment of the Salisbury Beach Lifeguards. Registration on race day will begin at 5 p.m. on the boardwalk located nearest to the Salisbury Beach Lifeguard First Aid Station.

Pettengill Golf Tournament

The third annual Pettengill Cup Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, July 28, at the Ipswich Country Club. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. with a 1:30 p.m. Shotgun Start. The individual golfer fee is $200 and there are many sponsorship opportunities ranging from a $100 tee sponsor up to a $3,000 Golf Cart Sponsor. The tournament will benefit The Pettengill House, Inc. Yankee Homecoming Races

The 55th running of the Yankee Homecoming 10-Mile and 5K races will be held July 29 in Newburyport starting and ending at Newburyport High School. The 5K race starts at 6 p.m. and the 10-mile race at 6:14 p.m. Team competition is with USATF Teams in the 10-mile race. Runners in the 5K may form a corporate team at their place of employment. More than 3,000 runners are expected to participate in celebrating Newburyport’s 250-year-old history. Umpire Training

The Merrimack Valley Umpires Association will hold umpire training classes for men, women and teenagers over 16 on Thursday, July 24 and 31, and August 7 and 14. Testing will be on Aug. 21. Classes are at the St. Michael School in North Andover from 6-8 p.m. Anyone who wants to be trained as a baseball umpire in Major League Baseball rules should attend these classes. The Massachusetts Baseball Umpires Association (MBUA) umpire’s exam is based on the rules of Major League Baseball and will be administered at the end of the classes. Candidates passing the exam will then attend clinics on mechanics and positioning. The cost for the 6 week program is $150. Summer Track Meets

Amesbury will be hosting three track meets on Wednesdays, July 23, and Aug. 6. The meets are open to all ages: 6- to 8-year-old to men’s and women’s open. Events include the 100, 200, 400, 800, mile, 2 mile, shot put, discus, high jump, and long jump. Registration begins at 4:45 p.m. and the meet starts at 5:30 p.m. The entry fee is $5 for up to three events, and all proceeds benefit the track programs at Amesbury, Newburyport, Pentucket and Triton. Summer Programs

Triton Regional High School will be hosting a variety of sports camps and clinics this summer. Amesbury girls tennis head coach Brett Manoloff will be offering tennis instruction to help local youth to learn the game of tennis. The instruction will begin on Monday, July 21, and continue until July 25. Instruction for grades 1-3 will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m; grades 4-6 will take place between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m; grades 7-11 will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The cost is $60 for the week, and to register, go to amesburygirlstennis.org and click on the ACT page.

Amesbury Youth Recreation will be holding Prime Time Lacrosse Day Clinics this summer for players looking to improve their skills. Staff consisting of current and former college and professional lacrosse players will teach all aspects of both individual and team-based skills. Participants should bring their own sticks. NFL Flag Football registration is now open. Seacoast Youth Flag Football’s Fall Registration is open for coed ages 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14 and 15-17. Games are played every Saturday starting the first week of September and runs 10 weeks. NFL Flag Football is the premier Flag Football League emphasizing: Football fundamentals, fitness, teamwork & sportsmanship. All players get official NFL team jersey, socks and shorts. Slow Bike Race

The Coastal Trails Coalition’s Slow Bike Race will take place on Wednesday, July 31 starting at 6 p.m. The race will be held at Brown Square in Newburyport and the winner will be the participant who crosses the finish line last. Prizes will also be offered to the entrant who raises the most money and for best costume. Registration is $25 and all proceeds will go towards the maintenance of the local rail trail. Maudslay Summer XC Series

The Maudslay Summer XC series races will be held on Thursday evenings through Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Maudslay State Park. Races of 1.5 miles and 3 miles of the runner’s choice will be run with a mutual start time of 6:30 p.m. There is no entry fee — all runners will get their finishing time and all finishers under 14 will receive a ribbon. All runners who complete four or more of the eight races will receive a Summer XC Series T-shirt compliments of Greater Boston Running Company. The races are open to all ages and all abilities. Wall of Fame Golf Tournament

Registration for this year’s Wall of Fame Golf Tournament is now underway. The tournament will take place at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Ould Newbury Golf Club in Byfield. The cost of registration is $75 per player with four players per team, and the competition will follow an 18 hole “scramble” format. Each team will receive two golf carts, lunch will be provided after the tournament., and prizes are available for the winners, runners-up and for those who record the longest drive and closest shots on the par-three holes. This year’s tournament is in honor of past president and treasurer Paul Reilly, who passed in February. Field Hockey

Newburyport Field Hockey will be holding its annual Cape Ann Field Hockey Clinic early next month. The clinic will be held over a two-day period from Aug. 12-13 and will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Amesbury Sports Park each night. The clinic will feature guest college field hockey coach Carla Hesler from St. Michael’s College, and registration is $75.
