Ex-Pentucket tennis coach selected for Atlantic Coast Cup

NEWBURYPORT — Dick Canepa, one of the top senior tennis players in the region, has been chosen to play in the Atlantic Coast Cup in Forest Hills, N.Y., beginning Sunday.

The competition pits the best senior players from the following regions: New England, the Eastern states, the Atlantic states and the Middle-Atlantic states. Format is two singles and three doubles.

Canepa, 77, who is ranked No. 5 in New England in the 75-and-over category, is expected to play doubles.

The matches will be played at the West Side Tennis Club, former home to the U.S. Open.
