Clipper Girls Basketball Clinics, run by athletic director John Daileanes and girls basketball coach Gregg Dollas, will be offering two weeks of summer clinics for girls entering grades 2-9 in fall of 2013. Week 1 will be June 25, 26 27 and 28. The times will be Tuesday 3:30 to 7 p.m.; Wednesday 1 to 6 p.m.; Thursday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Week 2 will be July 22, 23, 24 and 25. Triton coach Dave Clay and the boys basketball coaching staff and team members will be offering a basketball clinic this summer for boys entering grades 4-9. The clinic will be July 15 to July 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The focus will be on the necessary fundamentals to be a complete and successful basketball player. Each camper will receive a free t-shirt. Triton boys coach Dave Clay and girls coach Karen Christain and team members will be offering a basketball clinic this summer for boys and girls entering grades 1-3. The first annual Progressive Basketball Academy Summer Clinic with Pentucket Girls Head Coach John McNamara will be held at the Pentucket High School gym the week of Aug. 12 to 16. This clinic is for girls in grades 4 through 8 as of the fall of 2013. The Progressive Basketball Academy (PBA) is a girls-only program that focuses on the fundamentals of basketball. Coach McNamara will teach many of the same fundamental concepts that has helped lead the Pentucket girls to a state championship in 2012 and a fifth trip to the Boston Garden this past season. The Yankee Homecoming 10-Mile and 5K races will be held July 30 starting at 6 p.m. For the first time both races will be chip timed at the start and finish.

The Maudslay Summer Cross-Country Series will take place Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. from June 20 to Aug. 8 at Maudslay State Park.

There will be two races each night — one 1.5-mile course and another 3.0-mile course. The cost is free, although donations are accepted to defray the cost of ribbons for youth and permit fees for the park. Run at least four the races and earn a t-shirt. Email Don Hennigar at for more information.

The 35th annual Pat Polletta 2-Mile Rail-Trail Race will be June 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The race supports two local charities: Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country, a non-profit organization providing year-round opportunities in sports and recreation for persons with physical or developmental disabilities; and Amesbury High School Boosters running programs. Training camp for the Women’s Tufts 10K and Green Strides Half Marathon will be offered by Nancy McCarthy. The camp will include strength training, stretches, progressive long runs and nutritional and orthopedic lectures. The Nate Bibaud 5K will be hosted by Joppa Flats Running Club June 30 at 10 a.m. Proceeds will help Nathaniel deal with the sizable medical bills incurred after he suffered an accident leaving him with a severe spinal cord injury. Visit to register.


Green Stride and Flatbread have teamed up to bring an eventful night every Wednesday that includes a group run leaving at 6 p.m. (arrive 15 minutes prior), a small flatbread pizza and a beer (or a non-alcoholic drink if preferred) all for only $5. For more information email


The annual Peak Performance Clinic, run by strength and conditioning coach Jason Beauparlant, will be held starting July 1 and running until Aug. 16. The clinic is open to all male and female athletes ages 13 through college. It is a multi-sport clinic that addresses speed, agility, quickness, explosiveness, injury-prevention and game-conditioning. Field Hockey

Youth Field Hockey Skills and Drills Clinic will run on Mondays and Wednesdays for three weeks. Dates are June 24 and 26 and July 1, 3, 8 and 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Amesbury Sports Park. The clinic is open to all local students entering grades 3 to 9. The rate is $105 per player. Boston Field Hockey Umpires Association will be conducting a field hockey umpiring clinic at North Andover High School. The class will include two classroom sessions that will be on June 27 and June 28 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and two on field sessions in conjunction with the North Andover Summer Knights Field Hockey League, dates to be determined later. The fee for the class is $125 and that includes all materials for the class, a rules book, a whistle, a set of warning cards, and an official’s game shirt. Boot Camp

A two-day-per-week, eight-week boot camp will be offered by Nancy McCarthy at Cashman Park. The camp includes strength and cardio conditioning for adults of all fitness levels. The NHS Baseball Alumni Association will host a golf tournament Aug. 19 (8 a.m. start, 7 a.m. registration) at Ould Newbury Golf Club. The entry fee is $100 per golfer or $400 per foursome. Each golfer securing a hole sponsor ($100) or cart sponsor ($75) will receive a $25 discount.
