The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Commission is holding its The Tortoise and Hare 10K Race on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at Lions Park in Salisbury. The race also features a Kids Fun Run, a Kids 1-mile race prior to the start of the race and a 3-Mile walk that will start as soon as the runners are jogging down the Ghost Trail. The Newburyport PTO is inviting all runners, walkers, friends, students and alumni to kick off the season with the “Spring Fever 5K and Family Fun Run” to celebrate the final days of Newburyport’s Bresnahan Elementary School. The race will begin and end at the school and follow a route that takes runners down along the waterfront. The race will take place on Sunday, May 4, with the kids Fun Run starting at noon and the 5K starting at 1 p.m. The Fun Run is open to kids aged Pre K to 3rd grade, and the 5K is open to all ages. Registration for the 5K is $25 if preregistered by April 30 and $30 on the day of the race, and the Fun Run is $5 per child, $10 per family. Proceeds for the race will go to the Brown, Bresnahan and Molin Elementary Schools and support PTO sponsored activities like the science fair, field trips and cultural awareness programs.

The Newburyport Girls Basketball Summer Clinic run by Newburyport High School coach Gregg Dollas, high school basketball staff and players will be offered for students entering grades 2-9.
