Running

Trav’s Trail Run will take place at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport on Sunday, May 18 starting at 10:30 a.m. Trav’s Trail Run is a 3 mile race on beautiful pine needle trails and dirt roads, with all race procedes benefiting the Travis Landreth Scholarship Fund. New Balance t shirts will be provided for the first 300 entrants, cash and merchandise prizes for the top three finishers in all age divisions, and a post race raffle. Game Dinner

The Essex County Sportsmen’s Association will be hosting a Game Dinner this Saturday at the Elks Lodge on Low Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., cocktails will be available at 6, and dinner will be served at 7. Turkey dinners will be available for guests who don’t eat game. The Newburyport PTO is inviting all runners, walkers, friends, students and alumni to kick off the season with the “Spring Fever 5K and Family Fun Run” to celebrate the final days of Newburyport’s Bresnahan Elementary School. The race will begin and end at the school and follow a route that takes runners down along the waterfront. The race will take place on Sunday, May 4, with the kids Fun Run starting at noon and the 5K starting at 1 p.m. The Fun Run is open to kids aged Pre K to 3rd grade, and the 5K is open to all ages. Registration for the 5K is $25 if preregistered by April 30 and $30 on the day of the race, and the Fun Run is $5 per child, $10 per family. Proceeds for the race will go to the Brown, Bresnahan and Molin Elementary Schools and support PTO sponsored activities like the science fair, field trips and cultural awareness programs.
