The Clippers now stand at 3-4 (2-5 CAL) after a solid offensive outing against Manchester Essex. Travis Wile led the Clippers with a home run and 3 RBIs, 2 hits, and 3 runs scored with 2 stolen bases. Jake Berger continued his hot hitting as well with 2 hits and 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Shortstop co-captain Caleb Stott had an outstanding day as well with 3 hits, 4 rbis, and 2 runs scored. Newburyport had two runs in the first two innings and three runs in the third to jump out to a 7-0 lead. Manchester Essex came back to score and tie the game with single runs in the third and fourth and five runs in the sixth. The Clippers put the game out of reach in the seventh with five runs. Mike Jayne got the win for the Clippers, and starter Scott Webster had 10 strikeouts for Newburyport while Jayne had three. Chance Carpenter, Jayne, James Nutter, Travis O’Brien, and Matt Short also had hits for the Clippers. The defensive play of the day was the game ending double play from Stott to Short to Berger.
Triton 10, Haverhill 9
The Triton girls lacrosse team got back to its winning ways yesterday by edging out a close 10-9 win over Haverhill. Kaitlyn Muldowney had 4 goals and an assist for Triton, Nikki Sullivan had 3 goals and an assist, Megan Muldowney had 2 goals, Sarah Ganzenmuller had a goal, and goalkeeper Emma Cashman made 13 saves. Triton is now 4-2 on the season and will play Ipswich today on the road at 11:15 a.m.
