The Newburyport PTO is inviting all runners, walkers, friends, students and alumni to kick off the season with the “Spring Fever 5K and Family Fun Run” to celebrate the final days of Newburyport’s Bresnahan Elementary School. The race will begin and end at the school and follow a route that takes runners down along the waterfront. The race will take place on Sunday, May 4, with the kids Fun Run starting at noon and the 5K starting at 1 p.m. The Fun Run is open to kids aged Pre K to 3rd grade, and the 5K is open to all ages. Registration for the 5K is $25 if preregistered by April 30 and $30 on the day of the race, and the Fun Run is $5 per child, $10 per family. Proceeds for the race will go to the Brown, Bresnahan and Molin Elementary Schools and support PTO sponsored activities like the science fair, field trips and cultural awareness programs.
Trav’s Trail Run will take place at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport on Sunday, May 18, starting at 10:30 a.m. Trav’s Trail Run is a 3-mile race on beautiful pine needle trails and dirt roads, with all race procedes benefiting the Travis Landreth Scholarship Fund. New Balance T-shirts will be provided for the first 300 entrants, cash and merchandise prizes for the top three finishers in all age divisions, and a post race raffle. The Newburyport Girls Basketball Summer Clinic run by Newburyport High School coach Gregg Dollas, high school basketball staff and players will be offered for students entering grades 2-9. The Triton Boys Basketball Clinic will run from July 14-17 from 9:30 to 1:30 at Triton Regional High School. Players will have an opportunity to experience the growing tradition of Triton basketball and benefit from one-on-one interaction from the team’s players and staff. The first annual Amesbury Summer Basketball Clinic will be conducted by John Daileanes from July 28-31 at the Amesbury Middle School gym (girls 8 to 11 a.m. and boys 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) for students entering grades 3-9. NHS Baseball Alumni Golf Tournament
The third annual Newburyport High School Baseball Alumni Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, June 20, at 12:30 p.m. at Ould Newbury Golf Club. The tournament is open to all, and the entry fee is $100, though entrants can also secure a sponsor and play for $75. This year’s tournament is being played in memory of board member John Notargiacomo (NHS, ’75), who passed away earlier this year. Peak Performance Clinic
The Peak Performance speed, agility and quickness clinic will run from June 23 through Aug. 15 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at Fuller Field in Newburyport. It is a multi-sport speed, agility, quickness and game conditioning clinic for both male and female athletes. The focus is on injury prevention through the most up to date training techniques. The 32nd Annual Northeast Quarterback/Receiver Football Clinic will run from July 11-13 and will be held at The Governor’s Academy in Byfield. The cost for the program is $470 to be a resident, $370 to be a day participant and $405 to be an extended day participant.
