Down 7-5 going into the bottom of the seventh, Triton came back to win on a walk-off single by senior captain Billy Mical, who drove in two to cap off a huge day at the plate. Mical went 3-4 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs, and Triton also got big contributions from James Wood, who had 3 hits, 1 run and 2 RBIs; Spencer Norton, who had 2 hits, a run and an RBI, and Adam Chatterton, who pitched a complete game while allowing 8 hits, 7 runs (3 earned), 1 walk and 8 strikeouts.
The Amesbury girls tennis team improved to 3-7 on Friday with a big 5-0 road win against Rockport.
Freshman Abbie Sartori played well against Rockport senior Abby Hood, winning the first singles match 6-3, 6-1. Senior captain Olivia King took second singles by beating Rockport sophomore Megan Hood 6-1, 6-1, and at third singles, Jill Hadwen beat Rockport junior Olivia Turner 6-0, 6-2.
Amesbury also swept the two doubles matches, with the team of Emily Myer and Meghan Chines winning at first singles 7-5, 6-0, and senior captain Erika Landers and sophomore Sebastiana Redford rolling past Rockport seniors Conor Deedy and Julia Endicott 6-0, 6-1 at second doubles.
The Indians have a busy week ahead of them, as the team faces Newburyport this afternoon and has matches against Masconomet on Wednesday and Haverhill on Thursday.
