The Newburyport High School Wall Of Fame is accepting nominations for 2014. Honorees shall be men or women who have made significant contributions to athletics. Players, coaches, teachers, administrators or others. A student is not eligible until 20 years after graduation from NHS. All others are five years after completion of active service. Please send all letters of nominations to Newburyport High School, 241 High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950 to the attention of Pat McBride. The deadline for 2014 is June 1.

Triton Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading

Triton Pop Warner will be having registration on Saturday, May 17 from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. at Triton High School. Boys and girls from Rowley, Georgetown, Salisbury, Newbury, Ipswich, Boxford, Seabrook, Newburyport, Amesbury, Groveland, Haverhill and West Newbury can participate. Running

Trav’s Trail Run will take place at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport on Sunday, May 18, starting at 10:30 a.m. Trav’s Trail Run is a 3-mile race on beautiful pine needle trails and dirt roads, with all race procedes benefiting the Travis Landreth Scholarship Fund. New Balance T-shirts will be provided for the first 300 entrants, cash and merchandise prizes for the top three finishers in all age divisions, and a post race raffle. Soccer Tryouts

Seacoast United has announced tryout dates for its 2014/15 soccer club teams. All tryouts will take place during the first two weeks of June at the Club’s Outdoor Complex in Epping. Please reference the schedule found at http://www.seacoastunited.com for specific dates and times by age group, and to pre-register. Pre-registration is highly encouraged to help in planning for appropriate numbers and field space requirements. Boys interested in the Pre-Academy and U.S. Development Academy teams are encouraged to tryout with their true age groups.

Basketball

The RIM Sports Complex in Hampton, N.H. will be holding an 18+ basketball league on Wednesday nights starting June 2. The 35+ league will be Monday nights starting June 4. Put together you own team for $695. Or $75/player to sign up on the free agents team. A and B leagues. New players will receive team shirts. Certified officials. The Newburyport Girls Basketball Summer Clinic run by Newburyport High School coach Gregg Dollas, high school basketball staff and players will be offered for students entering grades 2-9. The Triton Boys Basketball Clinic will run from July 14-17 from 9:30 to 1:30 at Triton Regional High School. Players will have an opportunity to experience the growing tradition of Triton basketball and benefit from one-on-one interaction from the team’s players and staff. Tennis

Anyone interested in learning how to coach tennis is invited to a coaching workshop at the Amesbury High School Tennis Courts scheduled for Saturday, June 7 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Participants will receive a 10 and under on court workshop manual as well as a certificate of completion. NHS Baseball Alumni Golf Tournament

Registration for the third annual Newburyport High School Baseball Alumni Golf Tournament is now full, but anyone interested in sponsoring a hole for $100 or donating an item for the event’s raffle is still welcome to do so. Peak Performance Clinic

The Peak Performance speed, agility and quickness clinic will run from June 23 through Aug. 15 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at Fuller Field in Newburyport. It is a multi-sport speed, agility, quickness and game conditioning clinic for both male and female athletes. The focus is on injury prevention through the most up to date training techniques. Lifeguard Training

The YWCA will be offering an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course from June 23-27 to participants 15 years of age and older, and an American Red Cross Review Lifeguard Course from June 28-29. The rate for the full lifeguarding course is $300 for members, $350 for non-members, and the review course is $150 for members and $175 for non-members. Flag Football

The Newburyport All Sports Boosters is running a Flag Football camp this summer, June 23-27 (Mon-Fri), 8 a.m. to noon each day at Fuller Field. The camp will be open to boys going into grades 3-8. Football

The 32nd Annual Northeast Quarterback/Receiver Football Clinic will run from July 11-13 and will be held at The Governor’s Academy in Byfield. The cost for the program is $470 to be a resident, $370 to be a day participant and $405 to be an extended day participant. Field Hockey

The Governor’s Academy will host the 39th annual Northeast Field Hockey Academy, directed by Shannon Hlebichuk, head coach of the UMass Lowell field hockey team. There will be two programs, one running from July 13-16 for girls ages 10-18, and another from July 14-16 for girls ages 8-10. Overnight, extended day and day camp options are available for the older kids, and a half day option is available for the younger ones. Summer Programs

TLCAMPS will be hosting the Sachem Baseball School in West Newbury and the Newburyport Basketball Academy at Newburyport High School during the month of July. The Sachem Baseball School will run three weeks of clinics for various ages and the Newburyport Basketball Academy will run two separate weeks for specific ages. All five sessions will emphasize the proper fundamentals of the game, team work as well as stress the importance of sportsmanship and learning how to compete in a fun atmosphere for all players regardless of skill level. The RIM Sports Complex in Hampton, N.H. will be offering a variety of summer programs this upcoming. The Summer Sports Activities Camp runs from July 7 to August 9 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and costs $89 per week ($55 lunch option avail.). Sports and activities in include basketball, volleyball, soccer, badminton, kickball, flag football and wiffleball.

Amesbury Youth Recreation will be holding Prime Time Lacrosse Day Clinics this summer for players looking to improve their skills. The clinic is intended for players who have been playing for a few years to improve their fundamentals and begin learning lacrosse team concepts, though new players are welcome too, and it will assist experienced lacrosse players in taking their game to the next level as they prepare for high school lacrosse in a safe, fun environment. Staff consisting of current and former college and professional lacrosse players will teach all aspects of both individual and team based skills, beginning with individual techniques moving towards utilizing these skills in offensive and defensive team settings. Participants should bring their own stick. The clinic will run from July 28-31, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to noon and is for kids ages 8-15. Registration for the YWCA’s Tween Summer Program is now open. Children from grades 5-7 will enjoy a variety of fitness challenges geared towards enhancing their cardiovascular and muscular systems while targeting core strength and balance. Participants might be athletes or just want to get in shape and get strong. Instructors are certified personal trainers and fitness instructors offering the highest quality instruction around.
