Anyone interested in learning how to coach tennis is invited to a coaching workshop at the Amesbury High School Tennis Courts scheduled for Saturday, June 7, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Participants will receive a 10 and under on court workshop manual as well as a certificate of completion. No experience is necessary, and to register, go to www.coachyouthtennis.com, create a login, click on the workshop, pay $15 online, print and sign a waiver and take the online courses. Derek Hines Flag Day 5K
On June 14, the 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund will host its 3rd Annual Flag Day 5k Road Race. The 5K walk, run or jog will go through Newburyport. The post-race reception for the race has been expanded this year and guests will enjoy live musical entertainment from the Barn Fire band. Summer Maudslay Summer XC Series
The Maudslay Summer XC series races will be held on Thursday evenings from June 19 through Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Maudslay State Park. Races of 1.5 miles and 3 miles of the runner’s choice will be run with a mutual start time of 6:30 p.m. There is no entry fee — all runners will get their finishing time and all finishers under 14 will receive a ribbon. All runners who complete four or more of the eight races will receive a Summer XC Series T-shirt compliments of Greater Boston Running Company. The races are open to all ages and all abilities.
