Thanksgiving Food Drive

Join the Booster Clubs from Amesbury and Newburyport High Schools, in continuing the tradition of helping neighbors in need during the holiday season. Collection sites will be set up at the Thanksgiving Day football game between Newburyport and Amesbury at Landry Memorial Stadium in Amesbury. Learn to Skate

The Graf Rink, in cooperation with the Merrimack Valley Skating Club, is accepting applications for its fall Learn to Skate and Tiny Tots programs. Classes will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Please visit www.grafrink.com for more detailed information such as class times and cost.

Newburyport Youth Hockey is continuing to accept registrations for its Learn to Skate. The program is open to boys and girls from ages of 3 to 9 and runs 20 weeks starting Sunday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. Register before class at 9:30 or online at www.NYHL.org. Running

The second annual Timmy Trot 5K will be Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. The kids’ race will begin at 10 a.m. Proceeds will be going to The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts: http://www.biama.org/. To learn more about the race or sign up, visit http://www.timmytrot5k.com/.

The Pentucket Athletic Association will host the third annual running of the Pentucket Pride 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run Nov. 25. The fun run will start at 10 a.m., with the 5K set for 10:30 a.m. Both will start at Pentucket Regional High. Visit pentucketpride5K.com for more details.

The 23rd annual Winner’s Circle Running Club Wild Turkey Trot 3.1 Mile Cross-Country Run/Walk will be run Nov. 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Pipestave Hill/Mill Pond Recreation Area. Race proceeds to benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy and the charitable activities and youth and adult running program of the WCRC. Also, course preview will run Nov. 11 (9 a.m.) at Pipestave Hill. Hosted and directed by the Winner’s Circle Running Club. The 24th annual Maudslay 5K Turkey Trot will take place at 8:20 a.m. Nov. 22 at Newburyport’s Maudslay State Park. All race profits will go to local charities, such as the Pettengil House and Opportunity Workshop. Last year, this race generated over $10,000 for the local charities.
