Baseball

The Newburyport High Baseball Alumni Association is having a fundraising raffle for a grand prize of $5,000. The second prize is $100, and there will be two $50 prizes. Tickets are $50 each, with a total of 250 being sold. The drawing will be April 14 at William Pettingell Park after the first Newburyport home game against Hamilton-Wenham. Tickets are available from coach Steve Malenfant or assistant coach Rob Daigle or one of the players at NHS. You need not be present to win. Intertown Babe Ruth summer baseball players are needed for the 15- to 16-year-old division, as well as the 13- to 14-year-old division. Players must be living in or attending school in Newburyport. Post 150 Nor'Easters Legion baseball players are needed for this summer. The Senior Legion team is composed of players born 1993 or later. Two Junior Legion Teams will be composed of players born in 1995 or later. Workouts will begin April 15 at 5 p.m. at Eiras Park in Rowley and continue each Sunday until all players are placed. Hall/Wall of Fame

The Newburyport High School Wall Of Fame Committee is accepting nominations for the 2012 year. Those interested may send nominations to Newburyport High, attention Pat McBride, before the June 1 deadline.

Golf

The 13th annual Clipper Classic will be at Apple Hill Golf Course in Kingston, N.H., July 13. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The cost of the tournament will be $125 per person. Included is a breakfast of coffee and doughnuts, 18 holes of golf with cart, longest drive, closest to the pin contests and putting contest, 50/50 hole, registration gift, various handouts and lunch at the Galley Hatch.
