Winter is leaving: Top 10 moments

Newburyport's repeat track championship highlights indoor season

9. A turnaround season: The Newburyport girls basketball team fought back after a 3-5 start to earn a state-tournament berth for the third year in a row. Needing to catch fire at midseason, the Clippers won five games in a row heading into the final week of the regular season to improve to 10-6. They then dropped four of their last five including a first-round tournament loss to Bedford.

10. Another tournament appearance: Triton coach Drew Wile led his team to a state-tournament berth for the third year in a row despite the graduation of CAL Player of the Year Nate Williamson last season. Wile’s team saw their season come to a close with a 2-1 loss to Winthrop in the first round of the Division 2 North tournament. Still, the Vikings are a long way away from the pre-Wile era, when they were 10-37-8 in the previous three seasons.
