Pentucket sweeps Port on the track

Pentucket 85, Newburyport 60

Tim Freiermuth and Ian Mitchell won two individual events each for Pentucket (2-1). Freiermuth won the shot put (43-4) and javelin (125-6). Mitchell won the triple jump (38-11) and 400 (55.1). Dan Thornton (400 hurdles, 1:02.1), David Greene (long jump, 18-2), Jack Hanson (discus, 109-0), Joe Labrecque (pole vault, 10-6) and Jake Baribeau (high hurdles, 16.1) also placed first for Pentucket, as did the school’s 4x400 relay (4:00.00), which included Franco Pizzarella, Alec Biese, Thornton and Mitchell.

For Newburyport (1-3), Tom Graham won the 100 (11.4), 200 (23.4) and high jump (5-7). Joe Santo (2-mile, 10:42), Nick Carleo (mile, 4:58) and Sawyer Updike (800, 2:08) also placed first.

Pentucket 95, Newburyport 50

Pentucket’s girls team remained undefeated (3-0). McKenna Kilian won the high jump (4-8) and 400 (1:03.7) for the Sachems. Chase Marcotte won the triple jump (31-6 1/2) and high hurdles (16.5). Tess Nogueira (long jump, 14-3), Ayeshah Malhi (discus, 82-2), Erin Sullivan (javelin, 80-4), Ali Attenasio (pole vault, 9-6), Emma Marchant (2-mile, 12:33.0), Marissa Porter (mile, 5:44.4) and the 4x400 relay team of Marisa Lundy, Porter, McKenna Kilian and Paige Wesolowski also placed first.

For Newburyport (1-3), Lily Eagan (400 hurdles, 1:12.0), Alex Edwards (shot put, 25-7), Liza Twomey (100, 13.3), Rachel Haley (800, 2:36) and Katie Gorenflo (200, 28.1) placed first.


Amesbury 8, Manchester 7

The Indians (3-2) overcame a 6-1 third-inning deficit. Tommy Connors had a two-out, walk-off single for the Indians in the eighth inning. Adam Ivancic scored the winning run. Andy Reidy pitched the complete game for Amesbury, recording 15 strikeouts over 101 pitches. He allowed four walks and six hits. Ben Cullen had six assists at shortstop. He also scored two runs. Zach Fitzgerald, Devlin Gobeil, Mac Short and John Pesci scored runs.

Triton 15, Whittier 3

Nick Desrocher earned the complete-game victory for Triton (3-3). He recorded six strikeouts. He also had a nice day at the plate, delivering two doubles, five RBI and a run scored. Nick Cononi had two hits and two runs. Jon Seward had his first varsity hit, scored three runs and had two RBIs. Justin Cashman had a hit and scored three runs. Jack Geminara had a hit, scored three runs and had an RBI.
