Brett Fontaine led the Clippers with 19 points and six rebounds in his team's final regular-season game. Alex Losh added 10 points and six rebounds. Amesbury's Matt Talbot led the way with 12 points. Zach Arquin had his first varsity basket.

Nate Williamson had three goals and two assists for the Vikings. Matt Velonis added two goals and two assists. Derek Donley had a goal and three assists. Cote Wolcik scored a goal.
The Newburyport baseball team is starting to remind people of the difficulty of repeating a state championship.
The Clippers made it look easy at the start of the season, cruising to a 12-2 start. It could have been argued at the time that this year's team was even better than last year's. After all, through the same number of games last season, the state-champion Clippers were 10-4.
Newburyport resident Owen Lynch made his peace with football this spring when he committed to a sports-free college experience at Providence College rather than pursue opportunities to play football at Stonehill College or Trinity College.

Katie Hathaway finished off her college experience at Norwich University by achieving every goal she'd set over the previous four years.
In December, she captained the Norwich women's rugby team to a Division 2 Collegiate National Sevens title. Earlier this month, she captained Norwich to a Division National College championship in Palo, Alto, Calif. After her final collegiate competition, Hathaway was named MVP of the tournament.
A rebuilding Georgetown softball team hung with the class of the River Rival Region for five innings in Amesbury yesterday.
But the Indians, who almost always find a way to win, pulled it out with a sixth-inning home run from Erin Leary that sent the Royals home empty-handed 4-2.
