Newburyport too strong for Amesbury

Newburyport 5, Amesbury 2

The Clippers (4-5 overall, 4-2 CAL) scored three first-period goals to pull away from Cape Ann League rival Amesbury (5-2-2, 3-2-2).

Newburyport’s Ben Mirageas scored two goals and Tim Brennan added a goal and an assist. Ben Ventura also added a goal and an assist while Tyler Therrien scored a goal.

Austin Roy and Matt Kelleher contributed two assists each.

Triton 5, Pentucket 0

Kyle Hillick and Jack Norton scored two goals each for Triton (2-5-2 overall, 2-2-2 CAL). Jarrod Guertin also scored a goal. Spencer Norton had a shutout in net.

Girls Indoor Track

Pentucket 61, Hamilton-Wenham 25

For Pentucket (5-1), Tyler Feeney (55-meter hurdles, 9.4), Brooke Chambers (55-meter dash, 7.8), Emma Marchant (2-mile, 12:12.6), Ali Attenasio (shot put, 27-4 1/2), Maddie Nelson (300, 45.9) and Paige Wesolowski (600, 1:37.5) won individual events. The mile relay team of Nelson, Rachel Perry, Grace Dore and Wesolowski also placed first in 4:36.6.

Masconomet 44, Triton 42

Kerstin Darsney won the hurdles (8.8) and high jump (5-2) for Triton. Nikki Hepp (shot put, 30-2), Jess Savage (2-mile, 13:00), Maddie Quigley (1,000, 3:23) and Liz Willmonton (mile, 5:55) also won individual events. Laura Frackiewicz, Sydney Rybicki, Quigley and Darsney teamed up to win the mile relay (4:34).

Boys Indoor Track

Masconomet 55, Triton 31

Ryan Kent had Triton’s lone win in the mile (5:19).
