Roundup: Ferguson rounds out Olympic qualifiers with 12th-place finish

Amesbury native Dylan Ferguson placed 12th at the final Word Cup aerials event of the season Saturday at Lake Placid. The freestyle skier was second among American competitors, behind only Mike Rossi, who placed sixth.

Ferguson figures to be a member of the United States aerials squad for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, when the United States Ski and Snowboarding Association announces the freestyle selections later this month. Ferguson was the most consistent top-15 finisher among the Americans, although FIS World Cup Rookie of the Year Mac Bohonnon (2nd) and Jonathon Lillis (4th) had higher top finishes than Ferguson, whose fifth-place finish in the Birds’ Nest in China was his best finish in the five qualifiers.
