---- — IPSWICH — The next order of business for the Newburyport boys track team will be to win its fourth Cape Ann League Open championship in five seasons.

The Clippers (10-0) crossed another item off their ever-evolving list of goals yesterday with a victory over Amesbury in their final dual meet of the season. The victory clinched Newburyport’s second consecutive perfect dual-meet season. The Clippers have a 19-meet winning streak dating back to 2012.

Now, the Clippers move into another portion of their schedule that they have dominated in recent memory. First, they will race in the Cape Ann League Championships Tuesday at the Reggie Lewis Center. Newburyport, the two-time defending champion, clinched last year’s championship on the final event, when they placed second in the 4x400 relay. Their final score of 102 points bested second-place Masconomet by four points.

Newburyport will enter this year’s meet with defending CAL Open champions in Jared Healey (55-meter dash), James Nutter (600 meters) and Nick Carleo (mile). Alec Reduker (hurdles, high jump), Tom Graham (600), Drew Beaupre (shot put) and Gabe Ficht (1,000) could compete for league titles.

Later in February, the Clippers will look to win a sectional title for the fourth year in a row. In 2011, ’12 and ’13, they won the Division 4 state championship. This year, they have moved to Division 5, and have already collected a Division 5 Relays championship. Many of the distance runners on the indoor team are also members of the three-time defending champion Division 5 champion cross-country team.
