Back to Boylston for Hribar

Top local marathoner to join One Run for Boston

Hribar learned about the race through a friend, Gary Allen, who is the race director for the Great Cranberry Island 50K Ultramarathon in Maine. Hribar, who specializes in ultramarathons, is training for the Leadville Trail 100 Run in Colorado in August.

“I’m training for my second 100-miler, and I’ve done a couple of 50s,” Hribar said. “My dad was a serious runner. He ran the Boston Marathon when I was 6 weeks old, so I come by it honestly. I started getting into it seriously in 2009.”

Hribar, who works in the fitness industry for New Balance, moved to Newburyport in 2010 a few years after graduating Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She didn’t run competitively in college, although she has picked up the pace of late. In the last year alone, she has competed in the 50-mile Pineland Trail Festival in Maine, the 24-Hour Around the Lake Race in Massachusetts, the Pine Creek Challenge 100-Mile Race in Pennsylvania, the Rhode Island 6-Hour Race and the Hat Trail Run 50K in Maryland.
