The Newburyport Pioneer League Baseball/Softball registration for the 2013 season is underway through Nov. 5. The program is open to boys and girls from Newburyport between the ages of 6 and 15. Basketball

Registration for the Newburyport Boys Basketball (NBBA) runs through Oct. 31. The NBBA offers a variety of basketball programs for boys in grades 3-8. Visit www.freeteams.net/NBBA.

The Newburyport Basketball Academy will be running two separate basketball clinics this season for boys in first- to eighth grade. The first clinic will start Nov. 5 and run five consecutive Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Newburyport High for boys in the fifth- through eighth grade. The second clinic will run on Sundays starting Nov. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newburyport High for boys in first- to eighth-grade. Newburyport High School seeks applicants for a girls varsity tennis coach. Thanksgiving Food Drive

Join the Booster Clubs from Amesbury and Newburyport High Schools, in continuing the tradition of helping neighbors in need during the holiday season. Collection sites will be set up at the Thanksgiving Day football game between Newburyport and Amesbury at Landry Memorial Stadium in Amesbury. Learn to Skate

The Graf Rink, in cooperation with the Merrimack Valley Skating Club, is accepting applications for its fall Learn to Skate and Tiny Tots programs. Newburyport Youth Hockey is continuing to accept registrations for its Learn to Skate. The program is open to boys and girls from ages of 3 to 9 and runs 20 weeks starting Sunday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. Register before class at 9:30 or online at www.NYHL.org. Flag Football

TTS/Ipswich Youth Flag Football League registration will be on Saturdays until Nov. 3 at Town Hall Fields. Grades 1 and 2 will be at 3 p.m,, grades 3 and 4 will be at 4 p.m., grades 5 and 6 will be at 5 p.m. The league fee is $50 and $40 for each additional family member. The family max is $100. Running

The 23rd Annual Winner’s Circle Running Club Wild Turkey Trot 3.1 Mile Cross-Country Run/Walk will be run Nov. 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Pipestave Hill/Mill Pond Recreation Area. Proceeds to benefit the West Newbury Historical Society and the charitable activities and youth and adult running programs of the Winner’s Circle Running Club. The Howling Mile dog race will take place Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. at Newburyport’s Cashman Park. The dog will have the timing chip, and the dog owner will be running with the dog. The race will be one nautical mile along the rail trail. There will be prizes by weight class of the dog, and also prizes for the best costume. After the race there will be a dog carnival hosted by the Clipper City Canines organization.
