Game of the week

Triton at Newburyport

Newburyport football coach Ed Gaudiano also serves as the school’s boys lacrosse coach. After a lacrosse game last spring in which Gaudiano’s Clippers beat Triton 11-10, the coach noted that any game between the two River Rival schools seems to be close, regardless of the sport. That tradition may continue tomorrow as the Vikings will be looking to snap a five-game losing streak. They may do so with a new quarterback. Justin Cashman filled in for a struggling Bradley Whitman last week and had some success against Amesbury. On the other hand, Newburyport controls its own destiny in pursuit of its repeat bid at a CAL title. Connor Wile made his return at quarterback last week after missing six weeks due to a shoulder injury. Wile was 5 for 9 for 30 yards and an interception. He’ll be looking to improve those numbers this week.
