The 24th annual Maudslay 5K Turkey Trot will take place at 8:20 a.m. Nov. 22 at Newburyport’s Maudslay State Park. All race profits will go to local charities, such as the Pettengil House and Opportunity Workshop. Last year, this race generated over $10,000 for the local charities. The fifth annual Cider Mash 5K will be Nov. 4 at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury. The 5K will begin at 11 a.m., the One Miler will be at 10 a.m. and a children’s run will begin at 10:30 a.m. Register at www.heateventmanagement.com.
Train for the Turkey Trot on the Maudslay State Park Turkey Trot course. All levels are welcome Saturday mornings beginning Nov. 3 for three weeks. The Newburyport Pioneer League Baseball/Softball registration for the 2013 season is underway through Nov. 5. The program is open to boys and girls from Newburyport between the ages of 6 and 15. The Newburyport Basketball Academy will be running two separate basketball clinics this season for boys in first- to eighth grade. The first clinic will start Nov. 5 and run five consecutive Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Newburyport High for boys in the fifth- through eighth grade. The second clinic will run on Sundays starting Nov. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newburyport High for boys in first- to eighth-grade.
