Newburyport drops to .500 with loss to North Reading

Baseball

North Reading 3, Newburyport 1

Connor MacRae allowed one earned run in the third loss in a row for Newburyport (7-7).

Masconomet 7, Pentucket 1

Josh Creamer was 3 for 4 for Pentucket (5-8). Jake Bordieanu was 1 for 3 with an RBI double.

Hamilton-Wenham 6, Triton 4

Nick Cornoni was 3 for 4 with a home run for Triton (8-7). Cote Wolcik was 3 for 3 with a stolen base. Brad Whitman and Nick Derocher each had a hit and a stolen base.

Georgetown 2, Rockport 1

Jeff Moore earned the win for Georgetown (10-5), which clinched a state-tournament berth. Moore was also 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored. Ben Noelk was 2 for 3.

Softball

Pentucket 13, Manchester Essex 8

Freshman Nikki O’Rourke led the Sachems (4-11) with a 3-for-4 day at the plate and five RBI. Tyler Feeney was 3 for 4. Sydney Snow was 2 for 4 with three RBI. Jenny Nelson pitched 4.2 innings in her first varsity outing.

Girls Tennis

Lynnfield 4, Pentucket 1

Coli Downey (6-0, 7-6) had the lone win for the Sachems (4-8) at first singles.

Amesbury 3, Ipswich 2

The victory gives Amesbury a single-season program record of four for the season, with four matches to go. Madison Padgett won at second singles (6-3, 7-6) for the Indians. Jill Hadwen and Olivia King won at first doubles (7-5, 2-6, 6-0). Hayley Buonodono and Emily Myer won at second doubles (7-5, 6-2).

Boys Lacrosse

Pentucket 7, Triton 6 (2OT)

Calvin Wiles scored the game-winner — his fourth goal of the game — for Pentucket (11-5) in the second overtime period. Sam Colombo and Jeff Porter added a goal and an assist each. Connor Beaton also scored a goal.

Girls Lacrosse

Pentucket 13, Triton 8

Jackie Brennan led Pentucket (7-7) with five goals. Tori Spofford added four goals. Sam Fiore tallied two goals and an assist. Sarah Wiles (1 goal, 2 assists), Audrey Moolic (1 goal) and Cammie Balentine (1 goal) also factored in the scoring for the Sachems. Tori Ruggerio made 10 saves in the win.
