Two courses, one goal: Raise money for research

Headlined by emcee Maria Stephanos, a Groveland native and current FOX News anchor, the eighth annual Par Fore the Cure Golf Classic will take place at two courses on Saturday, June 16.

Apple Hill Golf Club in Kingston, N.H. and Bradford Country Club will host simultaneous tournaments to help raise money for the Jimmy Fund.

The tournament is looking for foursomes at both locations with the golf beginning at 7 a.m.

Stephanos will be the star emcee after the golf as the participants come together beginning at noon at American Legion Post 6 on the Haverhill-Plaistow, N.H. line. The golfers' luncheon includes a New England-style lobster clam bake and Texas-sized barbecue.

A silent auction and raffle will also be part of the post-golf festivities. Included in the auction will be a trip to Bermuda, overnight stays at Boston-area hotels, an opportunity to attend a Patriots game with the End Zone Militia, dinner/limousine combination packages and custom artwork.

Michael Strong, founder of the Par Fore the Cure, organizes this event with volunteers from the surrounding Boston area. The past success of this event has led Par Fore the Cure to add a second golf course for the second consecutive year.

The event's proceeds help benefit the Jimmy Fund's brain tumor research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. To date, the Par Fore the Cure has raised over $150,000 for brain tumor research.
