Maguire runs personal best mile time

BOSTON - Triton senior Keely Maguire of Georgetown is apparently not interested in leveling off.

The standout distance runner, who is headed to the University of New Hampshire on a scholarship next year, finished fourth yesterday in the Elite Junior Mile at the Reebok Boston Games, running a personal-best time of 4:56.02. It was her best time indoors for the mile by eight seconds.

Moreover, the time is her best mile time overall and is superior to her best time in the 1,600, a 4:55.98 which she recorded while placing first at the outdoor New England meet last year.

Jillian Smith of Manahawkin, N.J., was the winner of the race in a sizzling time of 4:48.83, five seconds better than runner-up Jessica Parry from London, Ontario. Maguire was the top New England finisher, coming in two seconds and one place in front of Bridget Dahlberg of Newton South.
