Down seven goals heading into the second half, Newburyport put together a great second half performance, but fell a goal short ultimately in its comeback attempt. Triton Regional 13, Ipswich 12
Down 11-7 with only seven minutes to go in the game, coach Stacey Beaulieu said her Triton Vikings appeared to be in a candy coma after allowing four straight goals to start the half. However, the Vikings scored four straight unanswered goals including Julie Parker's (2 goals) game-tier with 14 seconds left to send the game in overtime.
Then in overtime Natalie Sullivan (6 goals, 1 assist) scored to knot the game again at 12-12 before Erin Curley (4 goals, 1 assist) put away the game winner. Beaulieu said goalie Kristen Roberts (11 saves) was a lifesaver, stepping up to be a key player for Triton.
Other goal scorers for the Vikings included Sara Nardone with one assist and Jen Rock with a goal and an assist.
