Football: Manchester Esex downs Georgetown 28-12

(Continued)

“We really ran the ball and blocked well on offense,” Athanas said. “We kept them off balance with a few nice pass plays but it was the run game that did it for us tonight. The defense really settled in and played a good game after the first touchdown too. It was a solid team effort tonight. We did what we needed to do.”

At 1-0 in the Cape Ann League, Manchester Essex hits the road next Saturday at Lynnnfield (1 p.m.).
