---- — The Pentucket boys soccer team clinched its fourth 10-win season in a row yesterday with a 4-0 victory over Newburyport.

The Sachems (10-3-3) have won 10 or more games every year since 2010, but before that season, they had not won 10 games in a single season since 2001. Pentucket is 10-1-2 since starting 0-2-0. As of yesterday, the Sachems appeared primed for a top-four seed in the Division 3 North tournament.

“After we lost the first two games of the season, everybody stepped up, and everybody found a way to contribute,” Pentucket coach Christian Langlois said. “I’ve had to try kids at different positions all season. I’ve moved a lot of guys in and out of starting lineups. Credit everyone’s hard work and willingness to help the team.”

In yesterday’s win, Kyle Sedler scored two goals. The team’s leading goal-scorer, Brendan Sullivan, had a goal and an assist. Will Dwyer scored a goal. Ryan Beaton had two assists. Connor Beaton also had an assist.

Pentucket goalkeepers Cody Sedler and Logan Sherwood combined on the shutout.

“The goaltending with Cody and Logan has been tremendous,” Langlois said. “We needed someone to step up as the main goal-scorer and point leader, and Brendan’s done that.”

Langlois also credited central defenders Dylan Wright and Evan Burke, along with Beaton, a left back.

“None of those guys started for us last year,” Langlois said. “Dylan was the only player on varsity throughout the year.”
