Late goal forces Newburyport to settle for tie

Ice Hockey

Newburyport 2, North Andover 2

The Scarlet Knights (11-3-4 overall, 7-3-3 CAL) scored a goal with 0.2 seconds left in the third period to escape from Merrimack College with a point. Newburyport (8-4-4 overall, 7-3-3 CAL) ran its unbeaten streak to eight games. The Clippers are 6-0-2 during that stretch.

"It was a tough one to swallow," Newburyport coach Paul Yameen said. "I thought they outplayed us in the first period, and we took it to them the next two. It's always been a tough place to go and win. It seems like things like that have happened to us before."

Cooper Hines and Connor Wile scored goals for the Clippers. Trevor Cahill, Cam Roy and Kris Holmes had assists. Newburyport outshot North Andover, 24-14.
