Halloran's buzzer-beater lifts Amesbury

Amesbury 55, Manchester Essex 53

Amesbury point guard Pat Halloran hit a last-second shot at the buzzer, giving Amesbury a 2-0 start to the season. Jack Fortin led the Indians with 14 points, including two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Halloran had 12 points and nine rebounds. Devlin Gobeil added nine points and eight rebounds. Curran O’Connor had eight points and seven rebounds.

Newburyport 50, Triton 33

Senior Colt Fontaine led Newburyport (1-1) with 16 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Danny Baribeault added 11 points. Junior Dillon Guthro had seven points and 13 rebounds. Ian Michaels and Adam Traxler played well defensively.

For Triton (3-2), Cody Nixon (132 lbs., 0:26), Luke Boyle (138 lbs., 0:41), Jesse Caldwell (152 lbs., 1:28), Mark Boyle (160 lbs., 1:42) and Clay Bruneau (182 lbs., 2:28) won by fall. Dave Manning (220 lbs.), Victor Ramirez (120 lbs.) and Jared Stanley (145 lbs.) won by forfeit.

Pentucket (1-1-1) led 3-1 after two periods before escaping with a point.
