Found at last on this day in 1869 – The Knuckle Washer, a good, durable, cheap and efficient washing machine. It could handle anything from a single article to five sheets. Weighing less than 15 pounds, it attached to a common washtub by two screws. Removed dirt like a pair of knuckles under water.
