On this day in 1776, Moses Nowell offered a $2 reward for the apprehension of a deserter on Plum Island. Theodore was a young man of light complexion, about 5 feet 10 inches. If he returned of his own volition, Theodore could have his job back. Others were asked to avoid trouble by not employing, harboring, concealing or carrying off the deserter.
