Author Meghan Flaherty visit Jabberwocky Bookshop this Saturday at 7 p.m. to discuss her debut book, “Tango Lessons.”
The memoir is a personal history of Argentine tango. As she moves from beginner classes to late-night dance halls in New York, she learns lessons that apply to every aspect of her life.
Flaherty has a master’s degree in literary nonfiction from Columbia University School of the Arts and has published a number of essays and translations.
Admission is free. The bookstore is in The Tannery Marketplace, 50 Water St., Newburyport.
The Ultimate Aldean Experience returns to Salisbury Beach this Saturday to headline the Flying Horses Country Beach Jam.
Set for 3 to 10 p.m., the annual kickoff to the summer concert season will also feature performances by the Darren Bessette Band, Jimmy Connor and The Ultra.
Free concerts will continue every Saturday night through Sept. 1, as well as on Wednesday, July 4. They are all followed by fireworks shows, which are launched from a barge directly off Salisbury Beach Center at 10:15 p.m.
Get a taste of the new season in Amesbury at Main Street Congregational Church’s Strawberry Festival, set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The annual celebration takes place on the lawn in front of the 145 Main St. church. Along with the always popular strawberry shortcake, lobster rolls and chowder will be available. There will also be live music and carnival games and prizes.
The event has been a longtime feature of Amesbury Days, which officially starts this year on Thursday, June 28, and runs through Wednesday, July 4.
