Festival fun

Amesbury Days is kicking off its 120th year today with Kids Day at the Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Amesbury Town Park and the Chamber of Commerce Block Party from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on and around the Main Street Congregational Church lawn.

Events continue daily through the Fourth of July and include the Amesbury Beer and Music Walk on Friday, the Carriagetown Car Show on Sunday, and an evening paddle at Lake Gardner on Tuesday. The fireworks display is set for next Thursday night at Woodsom Farm.

Shore songs

Salisbury Beach is ushering in another season of music with the Summer Kick Off Country Beach Jam this Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m.

No Shoes Nation Band, paying tribute to country star Kenny Chesney, will headline. The Houston Bernard Band, Nick Drouin Band and Caroline Gray will also perform.

Free concerts will continue every Saturday night through Aug. 31, as well as next Thursday, July 4. They are all followed by fireworks shows, which are launched from a barge directly off Salisbury Beach Center at 10:15 p.m.

Sea legs

“Meet Beach Creatures” this summer at the Joppa Flats Education Center, 1 Plum Island Turnpike, Newburyport.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, through Aug. 18, the program introduces visitors to the inhabitants of the center’s 110-gallon touch tank. With a new theme every day, activities include crafts, games and family presentations.

Admission is free. The center will be closed next Thursday, July 4.
