AMESBURY – The School Department has changed the registration for incoming kindergarten students.

Registration will be open in February with screening occurring separately at the end of April.

Parents of children who will turn 5 by Sept. 1 are asked to register at their local school, either Amesbury Elementary School or Cashman Elementary School.

Registration packets may be picked up at either school’s office between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. In addition, online forms will be available on each school’s website beginning Feb. 1:

AES — https://schools.amesburyma.gov/AES

CES — https://schools.amesburyma.gov/CES

Completed registration forms and support materials need to be returned to the school office no later than March 2. This earlier registration timeline is to allow school officials to react to any changes in kindergarten enrollment.

Families living east of Whitehall Road and north of High and Elm streets (odd-numbered street address on the boundary roads) will register at Amesbury Elementary. Families living west of Whitehall Road and south of High and Elm streets (even-numbered street addresses on the boundary roads) will register at Cashman Elementary.

To assist families, two parent information nights are scheduled.

For Amesbury Elementary families, the information night will be Jan. 29 at 6:30 at the school, 20 South Hampton Road.

For Cashman families, the information night will be Jan. 30 at 6:30 at the school, 193 Lions Mouth Road.

Registration paperwork may be completed at these sessions. Adults should bring proof of residency (lease/mortgage and current utility bill), the child’s birth certificate and the child’s current immunization record.

Students with completed registration packets will be assigned a screening date for either April 8 or April 9.

Screening helps school administrators with student placement in classes.

Questions can be directed to Amesbury Elementary at 978-388-3659 or Cashman Elementary at 978-388-4407.
