WEST NEWBURY— Enjoy the scenic beauty and peak autumn foliage at the 22nd annual Apple Harvest Run on Sunday, Oct. 2. The annual event is a fundraiser for the John C. Page Elementary School PTO, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting educational and cultural programs for the school's students.

The Apple Harvest Run draws top runners from around New England. The day's events offer something for everyone — including a 5-mile USATF-certified run, a 5K USATF-certified run and health walk and a children's 1-mile fun run. Enjoy live entertainment with numerous bands, food, kids' activities and awards in all age and place categories.

The 1 Mile Fun Run goes off at noon; the 5-Mile Run at 12:30 p.m.; and the 5K Run & Health Walk at 12:40 p.m. The races will be held at 15 Bachelor St., Action Cove Playground.

Register online or download forms to mail in www.appleharvestrun.org. Participants who register by Sept. 16 get an early bird discount as well as a long sleeve race T-shirt.

Join the third annual Spaghetti Dinner the night before the big race, featuring entertainment from Way to The River. The band plays contemporary, popular and rock classics. Runners can also preregister and pick up their race numbers during this event. The dinner is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the West Newbury Town Hall Annex. Dinner, salad, dessert and drinks will be served. Beer and wine is available at a cash bar. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The PTO relies on this annual event to fund various programs at the Page School with special supplies and programs to enrich the classroom experience. Examples include technology enhancements as well as cultural programs. Recent budget constraints underline the importance of this year's event and the need for continued support from the local community.

The event is still accepting donations of gift certificates, gift baskets or cash donations to be used for prizes and support costs. Businesses that would like to make a donation of any kind should contact Maureen Hart Mooney at Maureen.hart1@gmail.com.

Sponsors are still being accepted. For more information, visit www.appleharvestrun.org. The Event Committee would like to thank its sponsors, including title sponsor Institution for Savings, its Platinum Sponsor, The Provident Bank, as well as its Gold Sponsors: West Newbury School of Music, Executive Gourmet Services and Smyth Graphics.
