SALISBURY — May 16 is going to be a busy day in town.

Two interesting adventures will take place: the new Fairy Gnome Discovery Walk, and the third annual Salisbury Art Stroll.

The Fairy Gnome Discovery Walk runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pettengill Farm, located on Ferry Road. This is a one-mile loop through the woods at the farm with fairy and gnome houses displayed along the way.

Local librarians will read fairy tales, Buddhaful Souls Yoga Studio will teach a children’s yoga class, and local musicians will perform throughout the day. Refreshments and sweet fairy treasures  will be available for purchase. The rain date is Sunday, May 17.

An inaugural event organized by both the Salisbury and Newbury Elementary schools PTAs, one goal of the day is to build a stronger connection between the two towns and schools. Proceeds go to benefit the Schoolyard Rebuild Campaign, a project of both PTAs.

Students, businesses, community groups, families, and libraries are invited to build fairy and gnome homes to display along the Discovery Walk. So far, children, schools, businesses,  garden clubs, and families are making homes and even villages. Home inclusion is free and can be submitted online at: www.FairyGnomeWalk.Weebly.com.

Tiny doors have already popped up at Salisbury and Amesbury Public libraries, Salisbury and Newbury Elementary schools, as well as the Harmony Learning Center, Newburyport Lighting Company, Fun Way Learning Center, Newburyport Pediatric Dentistry, Eureka Toys, Sage Market & Design, Grand Trunk World Market, and Orange Leaf.

More doors materialize every day and can be purchased for a $50 sponsorship. For more information on how to sponsor a door, contact salisburypta@gmail.com or nesgrows@gmail.com.

This is the third year of the Salisbury Art Stroll, a family-friendly event taking place on the town’s popular Old Eastern Marsh Trail. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes food vendors, live music all day long, art activities for children, a balloon artist, face painter and more.

Those attending can stroll along the trail, where artists and fine crafters set up tables and booths to show their skills and work for display and sale. This is a rain or shine event.

The Salisbury Art Stroll is still accepting applications for artists, photographers, jewelers, and other crafts people who’d like to participate. Cost of participation is $25. Those interested should email Linda at: linda@ironic.it

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Salisbury, Amesbury and West Newbury Cultural Councils, local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
