GROVELAND — There was a blizzard at the Bagnall Elementary School last week — a blizzard of giving, that is.
Interim Principal Michael Smith reports that students and staff received an anonymous challenge from a relative of one of the students. For every snowflake they cut from paper in the span of one school day, the person would donate $1 to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
“Everyone was very excited and got busy making snowflakes,” said Smith. A total of 1,440 snowflakes was made. Then the school received even more good news.
“When two local businesses heard, they said that they would match the cash donation,” Smith said. That’s $3 per snowflake for a total donation of $4,320.
The snowflakes were sent to decorate the hospital. Smith called it “an amazing blizzard.”
