The Triton Regional School District School Committee begins its next fiscal year budget development this week, with formal budget presentations by administrators from the three elementary schools, the middle school and high school and department heads of technology, athletics, special education and more.

A tentative budget review will be discussed at the School Committee meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The final certified budget is due to the towns for their approval by mid-March. Visit www.trsd.net for a complete budget schedule calendar.

Local Scout troops will hold their annual Pinewood Derby on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pine Grove School.

Registration is now open for the Triton Babe Ruth League. Registration is open to those in grades 7-10 (13- to 16-year-olds). This league participates in the Intertown Babe Ruth League along with other communities and school districts such as Amesbury, Georgetown, Pentucket, Timberlane, Seabrook and Rockport. Support education at the Pine Grove School by using the coin machines at Institution for Savings at 312 Haverhill St. during the month of January. During this Coins for a CAUSE (Coins Add Up to Support Education) initiative, the bank will donate all of the coin machine fees from this month to the Pine Grove School PTA.

The Rowley Council on Aging is seeking two volunteers to serve on its board. Duties include attending monthly meetings and participating actively in supporting the Senior Center activities and the goals of the Friends’ organization. This month at the Rowley Public Library, the drawings and paintings of artist Patricia Selin are being featured. Also on display are tree creations made by Pine Grove School students. Students looked to the Methuselah tree for inspiration as they used paper bags to create simple, yet delicate pieces that come together to form a forest. See these unique works of art in the library’s lobby display case.

Town government has positions open on the following boards/committees: Zoning Board of Appeals, Parks and Recreation Committee, Open Space Committee, and Historical Commission-Historical District Commission.
