MONTGOMERY, Ala. — CNHI, LLC has been acquired by the Retirement Systems of Alabama, it was announced Wednesday.
CNHI is made up of more than 100 local newspapers and websites in 22 states, including 68 dailies and more than 40 non-dailies. That number includes the North of Boston Media Group, consisting of The Daily News of Newburyport, The Eagle-Tribune, Salem News, Gloucester Daily News, weeklies and related websites.
CNHI previously operated with RSA as its creditor, and details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

CNHI has grown from a handful of newspapers in 1997 to one of the nation’s largest local newspaper groups, serving communities in the Midwest, Southwest, Southeast and Northeast with news and advertising content in newspapers, magazines, websites and specialty products.
Both RSA and CNHI are headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama.
