AMESBURY – The Amesbury Chamber of Commerce has hired Phil DeCologero as its new executive director.
DeCologero joined the Chamber in July as member services coordinator, and has been serving as acting executive director since December.
“The Amesbury Chamber is a growing organization with a thriving membership,” board of directors Chairman Bob Lavoie said in a press release. “With all of the exciting things happening within both our city and our organization, we are confident that Phil’s leadership will support our continued success.”
“Amesbury is a community that values its local businesses,” DeCologero said in the release. “What’s more, the businesses value each other. It’s exciting to be in that type of collaborative environment, especially as that environment drives the Chamber’s mission of providing networking, marketing and business development opportunities.”
Prior to joining the Chamber, DeCologero worked as a political and business consultant, chief of staff to the mayor of Methuen, and as a staff member at the Massachusetts Statehouse.
He is co-founder of the North Andover Merchants Association, and helped start the North Andover Farmers Market, where he just wrapped up his final year as chairman of its planning committee.
“Phil brings a sensitivity to the needs of businesses, regardless of their size,” said Antoinette Whitney, owner of Ovedia Artisan Chocolates and vice chair of the Chamber’s board of directors. “We’ve seen a 10% growth in membership for 2020, and I am confident Phil will be able to deliver the support that our businesses need.”
DeCologero, his wife and three daughters live in North Andover, where he is a member of the Board of Selectmen.
