SEABROOK — Seventy-five Seabrook Middle School eighth-graders reached a milestone last night, graduating from middle school and going on to high school next fall.
Graduation ceremonies at Hampton's Winnacunnet High School Auditorium included the distribution of a number of awards given by both the school and community organizations to worthy students.
The One who Cares Award from the Knights of Columbus was given to Petra Krajina, with the Raymond W. Walton Post American Legion Citizenship Award going to Blake Wasson and Shannon O'Hara.
The Lions Club Essay Award went to Chynna Wan and Michael Streeter, and the Lions Club Scholastic Award went to Walter Higgins and Riley Bibaud.
The Seabrook Middle School's Outstanding Citizenship award went to Michael Streeter and Chynna Wan. According to SMS Principal Les Shepard, the award recognizes students who stood out among their classmates as being exceptional representatives of the middle school. In the view of their teachers, the award recipients distinguished themselves by their helpfulness, support and positive concern for their fellow students and school in general.
The Blue and White Award went to Ryan St. Cyr and Drew Hartnett. Assistant Principal Bryan Belanger said that the award recognizes students illustrating "consistent effort, strong work ethic, willingness to participate in new areas of learning, and positive attitudes toward classmates and teachers."
The Positive Attitude Award went to Kevin Slaven and Aylssa Emerson for always displaying a positive attitude both inside and outside of school, Shepard said.
Riley Bibaud, Sarah Dyer, Kristen Immoor, Kendall Markland and Chynna Wan were honored for making straight As all three trimesters. Chynna Wan also received the award for having perfect attendance.
