NEWBURYPORT — The Exchange Club of Greater Newburyport will present its 8th annual “Field of Honor” ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 10, at noon on the Bartlet Mall. A field of full-sized American flags will honor those who serve, whether military, fire, police, EMT or personal hero. All are welcome, whether purchasing a flag ($40) for dedication or as an observer.
Keynote speaker for this year’s theme, “Honoring Past and Present,” will be Chuck Cove, founder of the Pease Greeters, who welcome deploying or returning servicemen as they pass through that air base in New Hampshire.
A “Verbal Wall” reading of dedications will honor each flag.
The club will also be presenting a “Book of Golden Deeds” for life-long community service.
Musical selections by the Merrimack Valley Concert Band, sponsored by the Newburyport Cultural Council, will precede and follow the ceremonies.
