WEST NEWBURY — Does someone in town want to be a firefighter when they grow up? Or maybe some residents have contemplated joining the town’s call fire department themselves?

If so, on Saturday, the West Newbury Fire Department will be opening its doors to the public. The open house — from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the public safety complex, 401 Main St. — will feature something for everyone: station tours, safety talks, recruitment information and “all kinds of fun,” said Deputy fire Chief Michael Dwyer.

The department is always looking to increase its ranks, so don’t miss this family-friendly event on Saturday where youngsters can check out the fire trucks and residents can learn more about what it takes to be a West Newbury firefighter or a junior firefighter.
