SALISBURY — Qualifying first-time homebuyers, who are seeking an affordable mortgage, can now apply for the latest Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity lottery.
Merrimack Valley Habitat is breaking ground on its third duplex home in Salisbury this spring.
Homes are expected to be priced up to $187,200. Monthly payments would be affordable and cover the cost of mortgage, taxes, insurance and condo fees.
To qualify, applicants must be a first-time homebuyer with a household income within targeted income guidelines.
For a family of three, applicants must have a household income between $42,680 and $64,020; for a family of four, applicants must have an income between $47,400 and $71,100; for a family of five, applicants must have an income between $51,200 and $76,800; and for a family of six, applicants must have an income between $55,000 and $82,500.
Applicants will also partner with Habitat and volunteer 240 to 360 hours of “sweat equity” time. They will be asked to document that their current housing is substandard, insecure and/or too expensive for their monthly income.
Those who meet eligibility requirements will be entered into a lottery and if chosen, will become a prospective Habitat homeowner.
To apply, contact Roxanna at 978-681-8858, ext. 10, or Roxanna@mvhfh.org to receive an application.
The completed form must be returned to the local office, along with required documents, by Feb. 28.
