NEWBURYPORT — The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank has announced that its Charitable Foundation provided over $135,000 in grants to nine area nonprofit organizations during the second quarter of 2008.
"The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation is committed to dedicating resources that positively impact the communities it serves." said Richard A. Eaton, President and CEO of The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank.
Grant recipient organizations include: Anna Jaques Hospital for a mobile technology dock; Belleville Improvement Society to renew and restore Atkinson Common; Merrimack Valley Hospice for a Hospice House campaign; Newburyport Education Foundation for education enhancements; Proprietors of Oak Hill Cemetery to install a handicap-accessible walkway; River Valley Charter School Foundation for a math tutoring program; Triton Education Foundation for student information software; The Pettengill House; The Hugh Doyle Resource Center; and the West Newbury Council on Young Children for a garden project for children and family.
Established in 2003, the Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation, Inc. is a community-based non-profit organized to further carry out the banks long history of community involvement and civic leadership.
