Elizabeth Johnson Cushing of Newburyport and Francis Abbot Goodhue were married in the bride’s home at 98 High St. on Jan. 17, 1877. The newspaper noted, “There were about 50 witnesses of the marriage ceremony, and 100 more at the reception. ... The rooms were tastefully decorated with flowers, and the happy pair were united beneath a floral bell surmounted by a dove.”
