The Society for the Relief of Aged Females held its annual May Day Fair and Festival at City Hall on this day in 1869. Promising the usual attractions, plus new and novel entertainment, doors opened from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and reopened after supper until 10:30 p.m. Admission: 25 cents, 10 cents for children in the afternoon. Contributions of cakes, pies, fruit and flowers gratefully accepted.
