NEWBURYPORT – With boating season well under way, this is a busy time for the Cashman Park boat launching area. With that in mind, the Newburyport harbormaster, Paul Hogg, is alerting boaters about to days this week when there will be limits on access to the Cashman ramp.
Hogg said the area along the water at the Cashman Park parking lot will be closed on Wednesday for repaving work.
In addition, with the crowds expected on Saturday, June 15, for the 8th Annual 1st Lt. Derek Hines Flag Day 5K road race, which starts and ends at Cashman, Hogg’s office is recommending boaters who want to pull their boats out at the ramp before 2 p.m. After that time the exit from the lot will be closed while runners cross the finish line and the crowds clear out, creating a considerable delay for boaters who want to leave. Registration for the race begins at 2 p.m., with an opening ceremony at 3:15 p.m. The post-race festivities also take place behind the Towle Building.
