MERRIMAC — The annual Merrimac Old Home Days celebration will take place Aug. 9-12.

The event will kick off with the Everything On Wheels Parade, where participants can decorate and ride bikes and other vehicles, and will end with an all-day softball tournament.

Old Home Days, always held during the second weekend in August, will continue many of the same traditions as previous years, with the addition of a nightly beer garden, with drinks provided by Ipswich Brewery, and an increase to over 30 crafters and vendors at the annual craft fair, according to Jaclyn Scarsella, co-chair of the event.

The festivities will include a Saturday night bonfire, food trucks, live entertainment, pie eating and baking contests and a silent auction. Kids can enjoy a dunk tank, hayrides, hot air balloon rides, a fun run and an outdoor showing of “Incredibles 2.”

The organizers hope to keep the Old Home Days traditions that residents have come to expect, while still increasing the range of activities on offer, according to Scarsella.
